It is a Japanese sword of the same appearance as a katana. The blade of the wakizashi was crafted using the same process as a katana, possibly directly from broken blades of longer swords. The wakizashi was considered a guardian of honor and was never laid aside. Even in their own homes, samurais always had it within reach. They carried it tucked behind the belt with the edge upward, allowing them to strike the enemy directly from the scabbard.
Materials used: forged carbon tool steel ČSTN 19191, alder wood, polished cowhide, horn of a water buffalo, and copper.
